Transhumance, Kyrgyzstan

Transhumance

Kyrgyzstan

Overview

A rare opportunity to ride alongside Kyrgyz shepherds moving their livestock and yurts up to summer pasture. The riding takes place over five days in remote southern Kyrgyzstan near the border with China. In addition to the Transhumance, the trip includes a visit to the eagle hunters, a mounted archery lesson, and cultural stops and “masterclasses” along the way. This is a trip for gritty adventurers! Kyrgyzstan is full-on, from the landscape to the cultural experience to long and demanding days in the elements. Come with an open mind, a sense of humor and adaptability if the itinerary changes. The riding is generally slow while moving livestock, with the opportunity for faster riding mixed in.
