About us

Hi, we are Amelia and Lauren. In early 2023, we rode for eight weeks with three horses through northern Patagonia. Putting a long time dream into action felt amazing and rather than scratching an itch, the trip only inspired us to continue planning more treks!

We are two friends with backgrounds in conservation, education, and horses. Between the two of us, we’ve lived and worked in South America, sub-Saharan Africa, southeast Asia, and Australia. We’ve both worked with horses, guiding, and ranching in the American West. We make the most of life by seeking out experiences that connect us physically and emotionally to the present.

We started this community to bring people together who want the same thing — the thrill of the wilderness, the partnership of exploring on horseback, and curiosity for the people you meet along the way.

I grew up with a deep love of developing working partnerships with horses, nature, and connecting with people who live close to the land. I’ve worked in Madagascar with a community reforestation project, in Southeast Alaska with a tribal government, and in Tanzania supporting environmental education. In 2020, I spent the year with Namibia Horse Safari Company. That’s when the wheels started turning for how to bring my love of riding, nature, and people together. Since then, I’ve worked on a sustainable guest ranch in Colorado, horse packed in Wyoming, trained horses in Texas, and explored the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico on horseback.

My dedication to understanding and conserving the natural world started off with a science and marine focus. From teaching biology in Thailand to studying sea turtles on the beaches of the Big Island in Hawaii, I felt equal pulls to both know the ecosystems around me and to help others better understand them. Not long after completing my Masters of Conservation Biology in Australia, I began working on a ranch in Washington and realized that I could combine my other greatest passion, horses, into my work. Since then I have gone on to work on ranches in the American West and an estancia in Uruguay, as well as completing our long distance ride through Argentina.
